What is PRP?

Using your body to help heal itself.

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy uses injections of a concentration of a patient’s own platelets to help accelerate healing of injured tendons, ligaments, muscles and joints. It is a way to have each individual’s own healing system help improve musculoskeletal problems.

How it works:

PRP injections are prepared by taking from one or more tubes of your own blood and running it through a centrifuge to concentrate the platelets. These activated platelets are then injected directly into your injured or affected area. This process can help increase a number of growth factors that can help in the healing process (time/quality) for acute injuries and pain management for degenerative injuries.

Some conditions PRP can help:

Shoulder, elbow, wrist, hip, knee and ankle pain/injuries. It can also help with osteoarthritis and tendinopathy.

We can also combine PRP therapy with physical therapy. This allows the therapist to have sessions with the patient in order to restore movement/function from the injry.
